Ultrasound Lifting and Radiofrequency Together: What Does Each One Solve?

At PIND Dermatology Clinic, the most common combination seen in practice is US-made ultrasound lifting plus Thermage radiofrequency. It is paired often not because it is expensive, but because the two address different layers and different problems: ultrasound targets the fascia layer and sagging, while radiofrequency targets the dermis, laxity and texture.

At PIND Dermatology Clinic, the most common combination seen in practice is US-made ultrasound lifting plus Thermage radiofrequency. This combination is used so often not because it is the most expensive, but because it is the hardest to replace.

Which layer do ultrasound and radiofrequency each treat?

Ultrasound treats the fascia layer and addresses sagging; radiofrequency treats the dermis and addresses laxity and texture.

  • Ultrasound: acts on the fascia layer, corresponding to the question of whether the face will move downward, and this layer is the key.
  • Radiofrequency: acts on the dermis, corresponding to the skin's firmness, radiance and fine lines.

The two work at different layers, so they address different problems and cannot replace each other.

Why does this combination take the most time?

Because the two devices have different points to judge, and both must be set according to the face; the same set of parameters cannot simply be copied.

With ultrasound, you have to judge which area cannot be treated and how to distribute the number of shots. In people with thin cheek fat, treating the wrong spot will cause a hollow.

With radiofrequency, you have to judge what stage the laxity has reached and how to configure the energy. Too shallow has no effect, too deep causes burns.

How soon after treatment will you feel a difference?

Two months after treatment you will begin to feel a difference, six months is the peak, and after that you maintain it through daily habits and sun protection.

Does everyone need both devices?

No. Not everyone is suitable, and not everyone needs both devices; you first have to see how the face should be treated.
